美國地產大亨川普宣布投入共和黨總統初選以來，一直是語不驚人死不休，9月30日他在新罕布夏州基恩市舉行造勢集會時又宣稱，如果他當選總統，將把逃來美國的敘利亞難民全部遣返，因為他們可能是恐怖聖戰組織「伊斯蘭國」（IS）假扮的難民。

川普說，進入美國的敘利亞難民可能多達20萬人，但這也可能是歷來最大的欺敵手段，他們可能是「20萬IS大軍」；「我們不知道這些人是誰，也不知道他們打哪裡來，我要告訴各位，他們也許可以拜歐巴馬的軟弱之賜而進入美國，但如果我當上總統，他們都得滾回敘利亞」。

美國迄今收容的難民大約只有2萬人，但國務卿凱瑞上月宣布，未來兩年收容的難民將大幅增加，分別是2016年8萬5000人，2017年10萬人。

就在川普上述發言的同一天，俄羅斯對敘利亞境內「伊斯蘭國」（IS）展開空襲，對此川普重申他支持俄羅斯的軍事干預；他說，美國不要老是想做「世界警察」，如果俄羅斯的干預目標是要打擊IS，那美國不該從中作梗。

川普每次發言，總是會帶幾句粗話，30日也不例外，但共和黨選民似乎就愛他這個調調，迄今他在共和黨初選民調中仍高居第一，而且每次舉辦造勢集會，至少吸引幾千人。前佛州州長傑布．布希30日也在新州舉行集會，但只來了200多人。
